An exploration of current international events
Designed by Australian teachers, the Great Race develops understanding of current events through research, analysis and interpretation. Free to use all available resources, students can submit their answers at any time during the week.
16 weeks. 4 heats. 1 grand final.
The Great Race comprises 4 heats run over 16 weeks - one heat per term. Following each week of competition, students can view their position on the national leaderboard. Winning students from each heat advance to the grand final.

The Great Race is an ideal homework or class exercise (taking up to half an hour each week), and is geared to support teachers' classroom objectives.

How it works.
- Register - Once you register, you'll have access to the Teacher Admin page.
- Activate - Once we've received your payment, we'll activate your account, allowing you to register your students
- Participate - Once they're registered, students can begin the activities, electronically submit their answers, and see how they did.
Frequently asked questions.
- Who can participate? - Primary and secondary students (there are separate programs for each).
- How much does it cost? - In Australia, the Science Challenge is $6 per student, plus a one off school admin fee of $30. New Zealand prices are as above plus $1 per event.
